Job Title: Light Touch Evaluation Case Study, Local Research Associate Consultant – Guatemala

Overview: The Research Associate for Guatemala will support the Unitaid cervical cancer evaluation by gathering contextual insights on the uptake, acceptability, and operationalization of HPV screening and treatment innovations implemented through local partners. The associate will collect targeted qualitative data from national stakeholders and select subnational actors to understand Guatemala’s progress toward HPV testing integration, service delivery models, and community-level access barriers. The associate will work primarily virtually with limited in-person engagement as needed.
Key Responsibilities
Review national cervical cancer policies, cancer prevention strategies, and Unitaid-supported documentation.
Conduct virtual or in-person interviews with the Ministry of Health, PAHO, implementing partners, and civil society groups.
Collect high-level information on facility readiness, referral pathways, and geographic access considerations.
Document user perspectives through brief group consultations or key informant interviews with women’s health organizations.
Summarize contextual factors that influence HPV testing adoption, self-sampling acceptability, and treatment linkage.
Prepare a concise Guatemala country brief (4–6 pages) aligned with the evaluation matrix.

Qualifications
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in public health, social sciences, or related field.
Strong knowledge of Guatemala’s public health system and regional/local governance structures.
8-15 years of experience working with Indigenous communities and ability to navigate issues of linguistic and cultural diversity.
Spanish fluency required; K’iche’, Q’eqchi’, or Mam proficiency an asset.
Demonstrated experience conducting interviews and synthesizing qualitative data.
Familiarity with women’s health, cervical cancer, SRH, or NCD programming strongly preferred.
Education:?An advanced degree in a relevant field across the social sciences
Working Environment:?Work is performed in a typical corporate office environment or remotely.
Physical Requirements: This is largely a sedentary position that required the ability to speak, hear, see, and lift small objects up to 20 lbs.
Supervisory Responsibility:?This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
