Project Manager/Team Leader – Samarkand E-Bus Project

Objective:

The project aims to transform Samarkand’s public transport by modernizing the municipal bus operator into a sustainable commercial entity, implementing performance-based contracts for private companies, and establishing a professional management system to oversee the city’s new electric bus fleet and infrastructure.

Position: Project Manager/Team Leader

We are seeking a highly qualified Team Leader to manage the Corporate Development Plan and Capacity Building Programme for the E-Bus Project. The role involves leading a team of experts to support the modernization of Samarkand's public transport system, specifically focusing on the introduction of electric buses and the transformation of the municipal operator into a commercially viable entity.

Qualifications and skills:

• B.Sc. or M.Sc. degree in engineering discipline, economics or equivalent qualification.
• Must be fluent in English and Russian languages.
• Must be fully computer literate.

General experience:

• At least 15 years of professional experience in the field of public transport, incl. e-bus operations.

Specific experience:

• Preferably 10 years as project manager or team leader for similar projects in nature and complexity (large transport projects and/or corporate development/transformation projects, preferably in public transport sector operations).
• Previous experience with the execution of at least (1) project financed by the Multilateral Development Banks (such as EBRD, AFD, WB, EIB, ADB, AfDB).

Assignment Details

Location: Remote with international missions to Samarkand.

Assignment duration: 24 months
