Job Title: Resident Geo-Technical Engineer
Location: Project Site
Role: Ensure the geotechnical safety and stability of dam foundations and structures throughout the project lifecycle, from investigation and design to construction and operation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess soil and rock conditions for dam foundation and structure stability.
- Analyze soil properties, design stable foundations, and mitigate risks like seepage and liquefaction.
- Monitor the dam's structural integrity over time.
- Provide geotechnical input for design, construction, and maintenance phases.
- Work within multidisciplinary teams to solve complex geotechnical challenges.
Requirements:
- Master’s degree in Geo-technical Engineering or Civil Engineering.
- 20+ years overall experience, with 15+ years specifically in geotechnical assessment for dam safety and stability (covering investigation, design, construction, and O&M).
- Proven hands-on experience in the design, construction, and management of dam systems.
- Proficiency with design/analysis software (e.g., AutoCAD, Excel).
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
Advantageous Skills:
- Experience using both deterministic and risk-based probabilistic evaluations for dams and ancillary structures.
- Experience in Risk-Informed Decision Making (RIDM), Quantitative Risk Assessment (QRA), and developing risk reduction measures.
- Knowledge of emergency action planning and consequence evaluation.
