Job Title: Occupational, Health, and Safety (ESHS) Specialist
Location: Project Site
Role: Ensure the project adheres to international best practices in Environment, Social, Health, and Safety (ESHS) standards, with a focus on donor compliance and on-site implementation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement and monitor the project's Environmental and Social Management Plan (ESMP) and Health & Safety plans.
- Conduct regular environmental and safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments.
- Ensure compliance with international donor agency (e.g., World Bank) ESHS standards and national regulations.
- Lead site safety meetings, incident investigations, and deliver ESHS training to staff and contractors.
- Prepare and submit ESHS performance reports to management and stakeholders.
Requirements:
- Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety).
- 12+ years of overall professional ESHS experience.
- 8+ years of specific, hands-on experience implementing Environmental and Social Management Plans (ESMPs) and conducting audits for internationally-financed projects (e.g., World Bank, AfDB).
- In-depth knowledge of international ESHS standards and donor safeguard policies.
- Strong practical experience in risk assessment, incident management, and on-site ESHS supervision.
Preferred Experience:
- A post-graduate degree in a relevant field.
- Proven accomplishment in areas such as community liaison, biodiversity management, occupational health systems, and emergency response planning.
