Are you ready to lead and grow DCA’s impact in Sudan?

DanChurchAid (DCA) is seeking an experienced and visionary Country Director to lead our expanding humanitarian and development programme in Sudan. You will guide a dedicated team, strengthen local partnerships, and ensure DCA’s mission is delivered effectively in one of the world’s most challenging contexts.

DCA recently re-established its presence in Sudan, and a key focus of this role will be consolidating the office and programme growth. The position is currently based in Port Sudan, with frequent field travel.

About DCA in Sudan

DCA has supported Sudanese partners for more than 20 years, responding to conflicts, displacement, and natural disasters. Following the April 2023 conflict, DCA is addressing urgent humanitarian needs across Gedaref, Sennar, Al Gezirah, White Nile, and the Kordofans, helping to save lives, build resilience, and fight inequality.

Our work prioritises localisation and community-led action through:

  • Humanitarian response, including group cash transfers and SCLR programming
  • Protection, gender equality, and conflict prevention
  • Early recovery and livelihoods support
  • Potential expansion into Humanitarian Mine Action (HMA)

Your Role

As Country Director, you will:

  • Lead and motivate a team of national and international staff
  • Oversee strategy, programme quality, and financial accountability
  • Strengthen donor relations and drive fundraising efforts
  • Ensure strong partnerships and local ownership
  • Manage security, risk, and compliance
  • Represent DCA in coordination fora and with key stakeholders

What We’re Looking For

  • 5+ years’ experience as Country Director or equivalent senior leadership role
  • 10+ years’ experience in humanitarian/development programming
  • Proven skills in donor engagement, fundraising, and partnership management
  • Strong understanding of localisation, gender, rights-based approaches, and the Triple Nexus
  • Experience in complex or conflict-affected settings
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Fluency in English; Arabic an asset

What We Offer

  • Competitive NGO salary and benefits package
  • Comprehensive insurance (health, life, accident)
  • Fully furnished housing in Sudan
  • Annual return flight for home leave
  • 6 weeks paid vacation
  • Supportive, inclusive work environment with strong security management
