Solid Waste Technical Expert / Monitoring and Verification Services for the EU SWM Project in Za’atari and Azraq Refugee Camps and Host Communities

General description of the position: The Solid Waste Technical Expert shall assess the technical performance of solid waste management operations, including collection, sorting, recycling, and related processes. The expert will verify operational data, review compliance with technical and environmental standards, and support the assessment of system efficiency and performance. Expert category: Place of Performance - Cat. II (>6 years of experience) Qualifications and skills required: • Master's degree in Environmental or Waste Management Engineering. Strong analytical and reporting skills; excellent command of English. Technical understanding of collection, sorting, recycling, and composting operations. • Knowledge of Arabic would be an advantage. General professional experience: • At least 6 years of professional experience in solid waste management or municipal environmental services. Experience in donor-funded or public-sector SWM programmes. Familiarity with environmental compliance, operations management, and data systems. Specific professional experience: Minimum 2 projects involving technical supervision or verification of solid waste or environmental operations. Proven experience in performance monitoring of waste collection, sorting, and recycling systems Knowledge of weighbridge control, data validation, and material flow tracking Experience with waste management in humanitarian or camp environments (shelter, sanitation, or site management) is desirable. Language skills: Excellent command of English is required; knowledge of Arabic is an advantage. Number of working days: 90 days
