The below listed responsibilities and requirements is assessed during the interview stages and will further be confirmed with the relevant professional references that you currently are or have reported to in your previously two positions.

Core purpose:

Capital and EPCM Cost Estimates for Overall execution of Projects, management of Cost Control System (Prism Project Manager / similar), and development of Cash flow Schedules and latest cost at completion forecast projections. Month end reporting of all EPCM and Capital cost information, change management, and building Trustworthy Relationship with Client

Key Performance Areas

  • Capital and EPCM Cost Estimates for Overall execution of Projects.
  • Management of Cost Control System (Prism Project Manager / similar)
  • Develop Cash flow Schedules and latest cost at completion forecast projections
  • Month end reporting of all EPCM and Capital cost information
  • Change management

Responsibilities:

  • Cost Estimation & Budgeting - Develop detailed EPCM and Capital cost estimates for all phases of the project (design, procurement, construction, commissioning). Prepare and manage project budgets, ensuring alignment with financial goals. Use industry benchmarks and historical data to improve accuracy.
  • Cost Control & Monitoring - Track EPCM and Capital actual vs. planned expenditures throughout the project lifecycle. Identify and analyse cost variances and recommend corrective actions. Implement cost control systems and reporting mechanisms.
  • Forecasting & Reporting - Provide cash flow forecasts and financial projections to support decision-making. Generate regular cost reports for project managers, stakeholders, and clients. Highlight potential risks of overruns or savings opportunities.
  • Risk & Value Engineering - Conduct risk assessments to anticipate financial impacts of uncertainties. Apply value engineering techniques to optimize resources without compromising quality. Recommend cost-effective alternatives in materials, methods, or schedules.
  • Collaboration & Stakeholder Support - Work closely with project managers, engineers, and procurement teams to align financial and technical objectives. Support contract negotiations by providing cost data and analysis. Ensure compliance with company policies, industry standards, and client requirements.
  • Building Trustworthy Relationship with Client
  • Ensure monthly progress certificates and Invoices are prepared, submitted and processed on time
  • Ensure sub-consultancy agreements are awarded in time
  • Liaise with engineering staff to ensure work hours are captured correctly.

Job Requirements
Qualifications

  • B. Comm/ Diploma in Business Management
  • ICC Certification
  • CEASA Member

Experience 

  • 3 – 5 years Construction Project Capital Cost Control
  • Budgets / Financial and Cost Control in a EPCM Project environment
  • Involvement with compilation of construction projects Capital Cost Estimates
  • EPCM budget change management
  • Capital Cost Estimate change management
  • Construction contract claims management
  • Setting up of Work breakdown structures
  • Cash flow scheduled and forecast at completion projections
  • Cost Control System Earned Value analysis
  • Cash flow schedules and Projections Management
