Job Announcement: Site Engineer– Water and Sanitation Infrastructure Project

Overview
Hydroplan is seeking a qualified and motivated Site Engineer (National) to support the implementation of a major water and sanitation infrastructure project in South Tarawa, Kiribati. The assignment involves providing day-to-day site supervision, technical support, and quality control during the construction and rehabilitation of sanitation infrastructure under the South Tarawa Sanitation Project (STSP).
The role will contribute directly to improving sanitation access, public health, and environmental conditions across urban and peri-urban communities.
Scope of Work
The Site Engineer will support the construction supervision team in ensuring effective and compliant implementation of works on site, including:
· Day-to-day supervision of construction activities for sanitation infrastructure
· Verification of works in accordance with technical specifications and drawings
· Quality control and site inspection of works executed by contractors
· Support to measurement, verification, and certification of works completed
· Monitoring of construction progress and reporting to the supervision team
· Support to health and safety compliance on site
· Coordination with contractors, local authorities, and project stakeholders
· Assistance in testing and commissioning of water and sanitation facilities
· Documentation of site activities and support to progress reporting
The position requires continuous presence on site and close coordination with national institutions and contractors.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
· Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field
· Chartered Professional Engineer status is an advantage
Experience:
· Minimum 5 years of professional experience in water supply and sanitation projects
· Proven experience in:
· Construction supervision of infrastructure works
· Site inspection and quality control
· Design interpretation and technical support during construction
· Procurement and contract execution support
· Experience in sanitation, sewerage, or wastewater projects is highly desirable
· Prior experience in donor-funded projects (World Bank or similar) is an advantage
· Strong ability to work in field conditions and multicultural environments
