Project: EUIPO – Study on parasitic copying (look-alikes, copycats and duplicates) 2026

Location: Remote / Off-site

Duration: Approx. 5 months

Language: English

We are looking for a Legal Research Expert to support the legal and case-law components of an EUIPO study on parasitic copying, look-alikes, copycats and duplicates.

The expert will contribute to legal research on unfair competition and related IP issues, covering the EU legal framework and national approaches in the Member States, as well as the identification and summarization of key judgments.

Minimum requirements

  • Academic specialization in IP law and/or unfair competition law, or practising lawyer/legal practitioner profile
  • Minimum 3 years of proven legal experience
  • Experience in legal research and analysis
  • Strong drafting skills in English

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience with comparative legal analysis and jurisprudence review
  • Experience preparing case notes, legal summaries, litigation analyses, legal publications or teaching materials
  • Knowledge of EU Member State legal systems relevant to unfair competition, branding, packaging, trade dress, misleading practices, e-commerce or AI-related issues

Main tasks

  • Conduct legal desk research and support jurisdictional analysis
  • Identify and review relevant parasitic-copying judgments
  • Draft concise and accurate case-law summaries
  • Support preparation of glossary, comparative matrices and legal findings
  • Contribute to interim and final reports
