Description

Job Description

COLEAD is a non-profit interprofessional association founded in 1973 whose main purpose is to facilitate and implement all actions that directly and/or indirectly increase the contribution of the agri-food sector to the achievement of the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). COLEAD manages development projects in the agricultural and food sector in low and low-middle income countries, financed by donors (mainly the European Union). More information is available on our website.

In line with COLEAD’s 2030 strategy and its ambition to foster an international, impact-driven movement contributing to the sustainable transformation of food systems—particularly in countries and regions where development needs are greatest—this role focuses on strengthening digital engagement, expanding outreach, and connecting a growing global community of partners, practitioners and stakeholders.

As a result, COLEAD is looking for a Digital Communications Expert, based in Brussels, Belgium, to support and strengthen its digital communication activities.

The Digital Communications Expert plays a key role in supporting communication activities for AGRINFO, one of COLEAD’s flagship programmes, which provides timely and up-to-date information and analysis on regulatory developments affecting agri-food trade between the European Union and partner countries. A significant part of the role focuses on disseminating regularly updated AGRINFO information to relevant stakeholders through digital channels, including social media, online platforms and targeted communication campaigns.

In parallel, the role supports the design and implementation of digital communication activities for COLEAD and its programmes more broadly, contributing to the development and delivery of strategic communication plans and digital engagement initiatives. Key responsibilities include content creation, social media management, digital campaigns, multimedia production, analytics, and identifying new opportunities to strengthen COLEAD’s visibility and influence. Working closely with the Information & Communication Department and programme teams, the Digital Communications Expert ensures that communication outputs are aligned with COLEAD’s communication strategy, programme objectives, and broader strategic priorities.

COLEAD Digital Communication
  • Create, publish and adapt engaging digital content across channels (web, newsletters, press materials, social media), including multimedia formats (graphics, short videos, visual content)
  • Translate programme and technical information into clear, accessible communication for diverse audiences
  • Adapt and repurpose content across channels to maximise reach and consistency
  • Contribute to the implementation of digital communication strategies and campaigns to strengthen visibility and engagement
  • Plan and schedule content across social media platforms using content management tools
  • Collaborate with programme, research, and editorial teams to gather and shape content, align messaging, and support communication around events, conferences, webinars, and institutional initiatives
  • Ensure all outputs comply with COLEAD’s branding and visual identity guidelines
  • Monitor performance across digital channels using analytics tools, contribute to reporting, and identify opportunities to improve outreach, formats, and engagement

Focus on AGRINFO
  • Manage the day-to-day digital presence and social media channels of AGRINFO
  • Contribute to content dissemination by translating regulatory and agri-trade outputs into clear, engaging communication for targeted stakeholders
  • Coordinate content planning and workflows in collaboration with research and editorial teams
  • Support stakeholder engagement and oversee interactions across digital channels, including moderation where needed
  • Contribute to the development of communication approaches and formats to strengthen AGRINFO visibility and reach
  • Monitor performance, contribute insights and reporting, and support improvements through SEO and content optimisation

Requirements

Background & Experience

  • Proven background in digital communications, social media management, or a related field
  • Track record in community management and digital audience engagement
  • Experience contributing to the design and delivery of digital communication strategies or campaigns
  • Hands-on experience managing or supporting social media channels and digital platforms
  • Exposure to international or institutional environments (EU context is an asset)
  • Demonstrated expertise in working with diverse audiences and applying inclusive communication approaches
  • Knowledge of agriculture, agri-food trade, or related sectors is an advantage

Skills
  • Strong creativity combined with a collaborative approach to working in multidisciplinary teams
  • Excellent digital communication and social media management capabilities
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills in English (French is an asset)
  • Confidence in analysing digital performance data and translating insights into actionable improvements
  • Familiarity with social media management platforms (e.g. Zoho Social or similar tools)
  • Good understanding of search engine optimisation (SEO) principles
  • Ability to create and edit multimedia content, including short- and long-form video
  • Proficiency in digital content creation tools (e.g. Canva, CapCut or similar)
  • Awareness of AI-supported content development tools (e.g. SubMagic, InVideo or similar)
