Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee Contractor’s compliance with the environmental, social and health and safety requirements of the Contract.
  • Review and comment on the suitability of MSIPs/ C-ESMP and other relevant Contractor’s Documents for demonstrating how the Works will be performed in accordance with contract requirements
  • Supervise works on site and conduct regular site inspections and audits to monitor compliance with environmental, social, health, safety, and SEA/SH measures against approved Contractor’s Documents and contract requirements, and report results in regular progress reports.
  • Ensure corrective actions are identified and followed up on.
  • Oversee and attend ESHS inductions and toolbox trainings, ensuring content includes Code of Conduct and SEA/SH measures.
  • Liaise with local stakeholders and community members regarding ESHS concerns or disruptions as requested by the Employer. 
  • Investigate and report incidents/accidents within 24 hours, perform root cause analysis, and recommend preventive measures.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Environmental Management, Occupational Health & Safety, or Engineering or a related field.
  • An internationally recognized Occupational, Health and Safety certification (e.g. NEBOSH or OSHA or comparable) is required.
  • Minimum eight (8) years of in similar position in supporting comparable (civil) construction projects, including World Bank/IFIs funded projects.
  • Caribbean region nationals are preferred.
