Objective:

The project focuses on delivering a comprehensive feasibility assessment and strategic development roadmap for a suburban railway (city train) system within the Tbilisi agglomeration. It ensures that the integration of existing rail infrastructure with the urban transport network aligns with international technical, environmental, and financial standards. This builds a bankable investment package for Asian Development Bank (ADB) financing to support Georgia's transition toward sustainable urban mobility and reduce traffic congestion.

Position: Alignment & Track Design Specialist

We are seeking an expert to lead the railway alignment planning and track design strategy for the suburban railway system within the Tbilisi agglomeration. The role focuses on ensuring that the proposed rail corridors and station hubs are technically viable, geometric parameters are optimized, land requirements are minimized, and the layout is safely integrated with the existing Georgian Railway infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

·       Alignment Assessment & Mapping: Identify, develop, and map multiple alignment options for the suburban railway corridors within the Tbilisi agglomeration.

·       Technical & Geometric Evaluation: Evaluate alignment length, geometry, land requirements, and engineering constraints for the studied alternatives.

·       Infrastructure Integration: Assess the integration of the proposed alignment and track options with the existing Georgian Railway infrastructure.

·       Station & Hub Planning: Define station locations and assess their hub potential based on accessibility and interchange opportunities.

·       Alternatives Analysis: Compare the developed alignment alternatives using multi-criteria analysis to determine the best options.

·       Depot Location Selection: Identify potential locations for the depot facilities and inform the selection process by utilizing the defined footprint requirements.

·       Preliminary Design: Develop preliminary horizontal and vertical alignment designs, and define track configurations, including single or double track requirements.

Candidate Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Transport Engineering or Railway Engineering.
• Min. 10 years of professional experience in railway alignment planning and track design for urban, regional or commuter rail systems.

Assignment Details

Location: Remote with international missions to Georgia.
