Objective:
The project aims to develop a modern, safe, and sustainable Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) network in Quetta, Pakistan, to alleviate traffic congestion and enhance urban mobility. Funded by the Asian Development Bank (ADB), this assignment involves conducting a detailed feasibility study, preparing comprehensive engineering designs, and providing procurement support for the BRT system.
Position: Senior E&M Expert
As the Senior E&M Expert, you will lead the detailed engineering design and integration of all electro-mechanical systems across BRT stations, depots, commercial plazas, and corridor structures. You will ensure that power supply, HVAC, fire protection, lighting, and building management systems are fully coordinated, energy-efficient, and compliant with international standards to support seamless and sustainable BRT operations.
Key Responsibilities
· Lead the detailed engineering design of all Electro-Mechanical (E&M) works for BRT stations, depots, commercial areas, and other project facilities.
· Design and specify HVAC, ventilation, fire prevention/detection/suppression, and smoke management systems for all structures.
· Develop detailed designs for power supply distribution (HV, MV, LV), emergency generators, UPS systems, street lighting, and earthing/lightning protection.
· Prepare interface designs and integration requirements for SCADA, Building Management Systems (BMS), and ICT/telecom networks.
· Produce comprehensive engineering specifications, technical data sheets, Bill of Quantities (BOQ), and Good for Construction (GFC) drawings for all E&M packages.
· Coordinate closely with structural, architectural, and civil design teams to ensure the seamless spatial and functional integration of E&M systems within the overall infrastructure.
Candidate Requirements
· Education: University degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related E&M field.
· Professional Experience: Extensive professional experience in the detailed design, specification, and integration of electro-mechanical systems for large-scale infrastructure, public transport, or commercial building projects.
· Technical Skills: Proficiency in designing HVAC, fire protection, power distribution, lighting, and building management systems (BMS/SCADA). Strong knowledge of international design codes and energy-efficient/sustainable engineering practices.
· Project Experience: Demonstrated experience in preparing Good for Construction (GFC) drawings, technical specifications, BOQs, and interface management for complex, multi-disciplinary projects.
· Languages: Excellent command of English (spoken and written) for technical reporting, design documentation, and stakeholder coordination.
Assignment Details
Location: Remote with international missions to Quetta, Pakistan.
