The Nordic Climate Facility’s 7th call for proposals receives a great amount of applications

The Nordic Climate Facility (NCF) received 138 concept note applications under its seventh call for proposals. After the initial eligibility screening, 121 were deemed eligible and were evaluated by NCF’s Evaluation Committee.

The Evaluation Committee comprises of external evaluators all with many years of experience within climate change innovation in developing countries. All applications had to have a Nordic partner as the lead applicant. The majority of the applications stemmed from Denmark (32%) closely followed by Sweden (31%), then Finland (18%), Norway (16%) and Iceland (3%).

A shortlist has been prepared and 25 projects have been invited to submit a full proposal. “We can see that the NCF 7 theme with a strong focus on business development was attractive for the private sector. 72% of the shortlisted lead Nordic applicants are private companies. This is a larger share than previous calls which is welcome since the Nordic Development Fund puts increasing emphasis on private sector development in its partner countries,” says Emeli Möller, NCF Manager.

The deadline for full proposal submission is 31 January 2018. Shortlisted applicants have received a full proposal invite via email.

The theme for the 7th call was Climate as Business – testing innovative green business concepts.
