Along with the UN’s principal organs, the UN system includes 30 affiliated funds, programs, specialized agencies, and other organizations and bodies. Smooth and efficient coordination and collaboration between the UN and the UN system entities is essential to achieve global development goals.

DevelopmentAid, in collaboration with the United Nations, invites you to join an exclusive outreach webinar on “OneUN, Diverse Talents: Explore Opportunities in Finance, Economics and Statistics in the United Nations” to gain insight into the UN system of organizations and the process of becoming a competitive applicant.

OneUN, Diverse Talents is a series of insightful and inspiring joint events unifying the United Nations system and bringing together more than 30 multilateral organizations for talent outreach. The upcoming OneUN, Diverse Talents event is a two-hour webinar featuring speakers from various UN organizations aiming to engage with talent interested in making a difference in the world. This inaugural session also offers an exciting opportunity to learn more about the work of the United Nations common system and explore opportunities in Finance, Economics, and Statistics.

The webinar is designed for audiences at all professional levels. Candidates meeting the following criteria are greatly encouraged to join this webinar:

  • Background in Finance, Economics or Statistics/Data Science
  • International experience or experience in multiple sectors
  • A post-graduate degree (or a Bachelor’s degree with additional years of experience)
  • Language skills: most positions usually require knowledge of English and French while the knowledge of any of the other six official UN languages is an asset

Speaker: Lykke Andersen: Chief of Talent Acquisition and People Programmes, Office of Human Resources, UNDP.

Lykke has extensive experience in Talent Acquisition, Young Professionals Programs, HR management, and service provision as well as development program management. She has held various roles in UNDP: Manager of the Junior Professional Officer Centre, Deputy Resident Representative in Uzbekistan, Aid Coordination Specialist in Slovakia, Country Program Manager for Eastern Europe, and Program Analyst in Kyrgyzstan. Lykke holds a Master of Science in Int. Business Management from the Copenhagen Business School.

Speaker: Dr. Silvia Montoya: Director of the UNESCO Institute for Statistics.

Silvia has extensive experience in a wide range of national and international initiatives to improve the quality, management, and use of education statistics, with a specific focus on learning assessments. Since the adoption of the Sustainable Development Goals, she has taken a leadership role within the international education community by helping to build consensus around the standards, methodologies, and indicators needed to measure progress towards Education 2030. Prior to joining UNESCO in 2015, she was the Director-General of Assessment and Evaluation of Education Quality at the Ministry of Education, Buenos Aires, and professor/researcher at the Catholic University of Argentina.

Speaker:  Tsung-Ping Chung: Chief of UNIDOS‘s Strategic Planning and Coordination Division.

Tsung-Ping is responsible for the substantive strategic analysis of trends and developments in international development cooperation in support of recommendations to promote the strategic positioning of UNIDO and its mandate of ISID in the global development agenda. Prior to UNIDO, she worked at the Commonwealth Secretariat as the Head of Office of the Deputy Secretary-General (Economic and Social Development) and with the Government of Qatar supporting the development of Qatar’s First National Development Strategy where she led the development of the country’s Social Development Sector Strategy. She has also worked with UNDP Malaysia, working closely with the Government on poverty and inequality issues, and in academic research with the London School of Economics’ Centre for the Economics of Education.

Speaker: Hamid Aboudou: Senior Regional Finance and Administration Officer, United Nations World Food Programme.

Hamid is the adviser to the Regional Director on financial, administrative, and risk and compliance matters for the East African region. He holds an MBA from the University of Manchester (UK) and a master’s degree in financial science and technics and a bachelor’s degree in economics both from the National University of Benin. Hamid has 21 years of work experience in financial management. For 17 years he works with the UN (WFP).

Speaker: Leandry Moreno, Officer, Statistics department, UNWTO

Leandry joined the UNWTO Statistics Department in 2012 and has since been passionately involved in the development, implementation, and promotion of statistical standards as well as in the compilation and dissemination of tourism data. She has also successfully contributed to the implementation of statistical capacity-building initiatives at national and regional levels. Ms. Leandry Moreno holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the University Management School of Poitiers, France.
