The UNEA-5.2 official side-event by the Partnership for Action on Green Economy (PAGE) highlights the opportunity for countries to respond to the impacts of COVID-19 through a green economic recovery. Leaders from across sectors discuss the shifts needed in policy and investment for stimulating the economic transformation that tackles the root causes of the triple planetary crisis of climate change, nature loss, and pollution.
To date, the global green spending from 50 leading economies amounts to 31.2% of total COVID-19 pandemic recovery funds disbursed β US$ 0.97 trillion out of US$ 3,11 trillion β according to the Global Recovery Observatory.
Panelists will discuss the potential impacts of investments from an international context to a country perspective, enhancing the linkages between the green transition and recovery efforts.
