New tools for food markets management and rehabilitation

πŸ“… 06 July 2022
Virtual Meeting / Washington, D.C., United States of America

Located in historic centers, markets are part of any urban rehabilitation and are key to food security in cities. The nexus between food supply and demand is increasingly recognized as the main driver of dietary patterns, the key to urban regeneration, and a source of identity and cultural richness.

In the food industry, grocery stores and supermarkets are still struggling to turn data into useful and actionable information. The situation is even more complicated for traditional markets. Unlike supermarkets, restaurants, and online stores, informal markets are often not regulated by formal governance structures and therefore lack information to guide their rehabilitation and management.

In this sense, the IDB Cities Network invites to the webinar New tools for Food Markets Management and Rehabilitation, which will talk about the necessity to collect data from different sources to calibrate value chains, consumption patterns, linkages between rural and urban areas, product quality and how food markets can thrive in modern cities.
