On 21 July, the UNESCO Regional Bureau for Science and Culture in Europe and the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Moldova, in cooperation with Artcore, will hold a kick-off meeting for the official launch of the “Digital Transformation of Cultural and Creative Industries in the Republic of Moldova” project.

The project, funded by the UNESCO-Republic of Korea Funds-In-Trust for the Development of Creative Industries, aims at better harnessing the potential of digital transformation for cultural and creative industries. The purpose of which will enhance the capacity of this sector is to promote inclusive, fair, and sustainable economic development in the Republic of Moldova.

The project will contribute to the emergence of dynamic cultural and creative sectors in the digital environment, in line with the 2005 Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions, ratified by the Republic of Moldova in 2006. In particular, partners in the Republic of Moldova will be supported to conduct mappings of the digital cultural and creative sectors thus establishing a multi-stakeholder national online register of the cultural and creative sectors, combining government institutions, private sector, civil society organizations, and individual entrepreneurs.

Following the identification of gaps in digital skills and available resources in the cultural and creative sectors, the project will also support specific training programs for cultural workers and entrepreneurs, in partnership with educational institutions.
