Islamic Relief is supporting aid efforts in the aftermath of heavy monsoon rains and flash flooding in Balochistan, Pakistan. 186 people have been reported to have lost their lives as a result, and hundreds more have been injured.

Homes and buildings have also been destroyed amid the flooding, and many farmers in the area have lost their livelihoods as the flooding has devastated farms and livestock.

Affected communities are also having difficulty accessing clean drinking water and are at risk of contracting water-borne diseases. There are predictions of floods worsening in the coming days and weeks due to heavy rains.

Islamic Relief is on the ground

Islamic Relief already has a presence in Quetta, the provincial capital. The emergency teams are already working in local communities to establish how best to support affected families, who urgently need food, shelter, bedding, and hygiene items.

The plans include providing cash grants to 3,000 families in 3 regions of Balochistan, which they can use as they wish to cover their most essential needs.

Islamic Relief teams are also working with the local government to support relief efforts.
