Developing Asia’s economic, population, and consumption growth will continue to drive global energy demand, making the realization of net zero carbon emissions targets in the region imperative to fight climate change. However, the COVID-19 pandemic has constrained public funds and opened the need to pursue new and innovative energy transition financing.
This ADBI-Think20 (T20) roundtable will explore financing challenges and opportunities for advancing renewable energy in developing countries in Asia and the Pacific. The focus will be on identifying policy recommendations to help the Group of 20 (G20) and Asian Development Bank (ADB) member economies promote financing breakthroughs within the sector.
The roundtable will be held as part of the 43rd International Association of Energy Economics (IAEE) International Conference. Speakers and attendees will join either at the National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies in Tokyo or online.
