Trees & Seas Festival 2022

Trees & Seas Festival 2022

📅 16-25 September 2022

Plastic Oceans International announces this year’s Trees & Seas Festival, which is an annual celebration uniting ocean and forest conservation around the globe. This year’s festival will offer an expanded schedule, which will feature hundreds of events, including a robust slate of beach cleanups, tree plantings, youth workshops, film screenings, panel discussions, live music, and other cultural experiences.

Organizers have also launched year-round programming, with the first activities now underway via a collaboration with the National Park Service and Malibu Foundation. It’s a project that will see the fire-damaged Santa Monica Mountains reforested with over 5,000 trees, plants, and shrubs throughout March.

“Last year laid the foundation for what I believe will become one the most anticipated and valued annual celebrations of our planet,” said Julie Andersen, Founder, and CEO of Plastic Oceans International. “Our team and partners intuitively adapted to the challenges of a changing world to deliver a global event that informed and inspired hundreds of thousands of people on five continents. As a result, we have stronger, more empowered communities ready to amplify the impact of this year’s event”

Through a variety of live and remote experiences, Plastic Oceans International has set impressive goals for 2022. Over 5 million square meters of land and sea will be cleaned of plastic pollution and other litter, 150,000 trees will be planted, and over 100,000 kids will be educated.

The entire global network of Plastic Oceans International will once again lead the way, and returning partners include One Tree Planted, EcoWatch, Bambuu Brush, ÜŃÜ, and Montes Wines, with more to be announced soon.
