Aid & Development Africa Summit

The development summit in Africa is uniting again humanitarian and development leaders, decision makers and advisors committed to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the region. The Aid & Development Africa Summit is due to take place on 27-28 February 2018 at the Safari Park Hotel in Nairobi, Kenya.

Now in its 3rd year, the Aid & Development Africa Summit presents an opportunity to explore best practice, policy and project updates, innovation and partnerships in humanitarian logistics, health & WASH, emergency communication, shelter, disaster resilience, financial inclusion and use of mobile technology for development programmes in Africa. The event advocates for cross-sector approach through inclusive, effective collaboration and coordination between national and international NGOs, government and UN agencies, Red Cross, donors, investors, development banks and the private sector.

The Summit agenda includes keynote presentations, interactive sessions, themed roundtables, speaker panels, Innovator of the Year Award and an evening drinks reception to engage with decision makers and key stakeholders in Africa’s aid and development sectors.

Highlighted topics include: ‘The Tech Revolution that is changing how we measure poverty’, ‘Disaster relief and blockchain: why this is the future’, ‘Collecting and analyzing data to improve humanitarian response’, ‘Technology in Africa: Phones and Drones Transforming Healthcare’.

More than 60 speakers are expected at the summit, among which Maurice Onyango, Head of Humanitarian Programmes in Africa, Christian Aid; Catherine Wiesner, Regional Refugee Coordinator, UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR); Matthias Boyen, UAV Focal Point – HIV/Aids support project officer, UNICEF; Macharia Kamau Ambassador & Permanent Representative at Kenya Mission to United Nations; Michael Ndichu Kuria, Director Global Supply Chain Compliance, International Rescue Committee (IRC) and others.

The Aid & Development Africa Summit was launched in 2015 to engage all the relevant aid and development stakeholders within Africa and beyond. The last year edition of the conference attracted 350 senior attendees from regional governments, UN agencies, international and regional NGOs, CBOs, investors and donors, research institutes and the private sector.
