📅 20-22October 2022
Kingston, Jamaica
The Caribbean Congress on Adolescent and Youth Health (CCAYH) is a unique event that focuses on the health of young people in the Caribbean region. The first Congress which took place in October 2019 in Trinidad and Tobago was the first event of its kind and was hailed by many as a resounding success. The event did not occur in 2020 and 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but this year is back with CCAYH 2022!
This year’s Congress will bring together participants from around the Caribbean Region at the main Congress site in Kingston, Jamaica. The official venue for this year’s Congress will be the AC Hotel by Marriott. There will also be opportunities for virtual participation, more details will be announced soon.
Participants in the Congress will represent a large cross-section of areas and stakeholders, including policymakers, program managers, youth leaders and activists, health care providers, civil society leaders, development partners, and (of course) youth themselves! Special efforts will be made to engage especially vulnerable youth including those with disabilities, migrant youth, youth living with HIV and chronic conditions, and LGBTQI youth.
The objectives of the Congress:
- Review progress in the implementation of the Caribbean Roadmap for the health and well-being of adolescents and youth.
- Enhance the knowledge of participants on the pertinent issues impacting the health and well-being of Caribbean adolescents and youth.
- Increase the knowledge and awareness of participants of successful initiatives, tools, approaches, and lessons learned to build health and well-being, and address the main causes of adolescent and youth mortality and morbidity in the Caribbean.
- Build consensus on opportunities, priority actions, and strategies to advance the adolescent and youth health and wellbeing agenda at the policy and program level.
- Strengthen and broaden alliances with regional and country-level partners, youth networks, and youth leaders.
- Formulate recommendations on how to participate in, and support, national and regional efforts for the prevention and control of COVID-19 and addressing its impact on young people in the Caribbean.
