Asia’s development over the past several decades has resulted in significant progress in the buildup of reliable sanitation infrastructure. However, challenges remain toward ensuring that sanitation services are environmentally, financially, and technically sustainable. These needs can be addressed through the city- and national-level sanitation policies and investments based on a city-wide inclusive sanitation strategy that helps optimize sanitation service performance and service delivery.
This 12-day ADBI-Toyo University training program for select policymakers from developing Asia and experts (cohort 3) will examine city-wide inclusive sanitation policy and innovation challenges and opportunities in the region. It will focus on sanitation project experiences in Japan and recommendations for the region.
Objectives:
- Build sanitation policy capacity of government officials from developing Asia and experts
- Promote the design and accelerated implementation of city-wide inclusive sanitation projects supported by development partners such as the Asian Development Bank and Japan International Cooperation Agency.
