UN High-Level Meeting on UHC 2023

📅 21 September 2023
New York, USA

The 2023 UN High-level Meeting (UN HLM) on universal health coverage (UHC) provides countries and stakeholders an opportunity to reinvigorate progress towards delivering health for all.

To ensure implementation and accountability, the world needs an action-oriented outcome that builds on the 2019 Political Declaration and focuses on creating resilient and equitable health systems, with primary health care as a foundation.

The theme for the UN High-Level Meeting on UHC is Universal Health Coverage: Expanding the Ambition for Health and Well-being in a post-COVID World.

The panel discussion themes are:

  • Panel 1: What is a primary health care approach and why does it matter?
  • Panel 2: Aligning the investments for health and well-being in a post-COVID world.

Is the time to call on the governments to commit to the highest political level of participation at the UN HLM on UHC and to assemble a gender-balanced national delegation of key stakeholders? Throughout the summer, keep up the advocacy efforts using the advocacy toolkit.

All partners in the UHC movement, whether government representatives, parliamentarians, academia, civil society, or the private sector, must advocate for a strong UN HLM Political Declaration that advances UHC at the community, regional, national, regional, and global levels.

UHC2030 encourages all partners to use the advocacy toolkit as a basis for coordinated advocacy efforts in the final moments leading up to the UN HLM.
