In the face of intensifying uncertainties around the world, the importance of collaboration in identifying sustainable and inclusive solutions has never been greater. The theme for this year’s Annual Public Meeting is Mobilizing alliances for a more sustainable world. It will highlight how IDRC’s strategic partnerships respond to the urgent global challenges of climate change and will provide program updates that demonstrate how partnerships can bolster climate action.
IDRC chairperson Dorothy Nyambi and IDRC president Julie Delahanty will present opening remarks. Important programming updates will also be provided.
Step change: Accelerating adaptation to climate change
The partnership between Canada and the Netherlands accelerates equitable, inclusive, and locally-led climate adaptation efforts to improve the quality of life for those most affected by climate change. Georgina Kemp, senior program specialist for IDRC’s Climate-Resilient Food Systems program, will share how Step Change helps local communities adapt to the realities of climate change by responding to their most urgent capacity-strengthening needs.
Strengthening loss and damage response capacity in the Global South (STRENGTH)
Bhim Adhikari, senior program specialist for IDRC’s Sustainable Inclusive Economies program, will share how the STRENGTH project supports the development and implementation of national policies that help countries in the Global South respond to irreparable losses and recoverable damages caused by climate change.
