The Government of Japan has contributed USD 45.3 million to UNDP Regular (Core) Resources for 2024. UNDP deeply appreciates Japan’s substantial contribution, which shows Japan’s unwavering commitment to multilateralism and the strong partnership between Japan and UNDP.
As the world grapples with increasingly complex challenges and crises, Japan’s flexible core support is critical for UNDPs ability to advance sustainable development globally, as envisioned in the UNDP Strategic Plan 2022-2025. The contribution will help to prevent crises and conflicts, sustain peace, protect human rights, and address the root causes of fragility in the context of human security.
Core resources from Japan and other partners form the foundation for UNDP’s operations and enable the organization to deliver impactful initiatives and programs globally that advance poverty eradication, gender equality, and the overall 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
UNDP looks forward to continuing the close collaboration with Japan the shared mission for a more equitable and prosperous world, where no one is left behind.
Core contributions also play a crucial role in strengthening UNDP’s oversight and accountability functions. They ensure that programs are delivered effectively, efficiently, and transparently. UNDP is consistently ranked among the most transparent international organizations.
