Both EWGs will seek expert inputs on the status, development trends, and enablers of the energy transition, focusing on strategic planning for accelerated energy transition and enhanced power system connectivity in the Asia Pacific region.
The EWG-SDG 7 meeting will emphasize the importance of target setting in the energy sector. It will explore various approaches to energy planning methodologies, and provide an overview of existing strategic planning initiatives introduced by individual countries, regional country groupings, and international organizations.
The meeting will discuss in-depth the annual ESCAP flagship Regional Trends Report on Energy for Sustainable Development 2024. This year’s report, in addition to discussing regional trends in power connectivity, will include a focus on the implementation of the Regional Road Map on Power System Connectivity.
