The 23rd Ministerial Conference (MC) and related high-level events of the Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC) Program will be held in Astana, Kazakhstan, on 7– 8 November 2024.
The ministerial conference will be attended by ministers and senior officials from CAREC countries, high-level representatives of development partners, the president of ADB, and other senior ADB officials.
On Day 1, there will be three plenary pre-ministerial conference thematic sessions which will focus on regional energy security in the CAREC region, innovative solutions to climate change challenges and the role of artificial intelligence, and the development of CAREC Corridor 2 (which broadly relates to the middle corridor).
Objectives
The ministerial conference, on the theme “Building a More Integrated and Resilient CAREC Region,” will:
- provide strategic guidance to the CAREC Program’s future direction based on the outcomes of the midterm review of the CAREC 2030 Strategy;
- consider the CAREC Climate Change Action Plan 2025–2027 and CAREC initiatives for COP29; and
- discuss opportunities for cooperation and financing of innovative and impactful flagship regional projects.
