Under the theme ‘From research to action’, this conference has become a key event for discussing research findings and their application in public policy. Through this biennial gathering, AFD aims to encourage knowledge sharing and dialogue between researchers, policymakers, and development practitioners to support low and middle-income countries in their economic, ecological, and social transition.
This year’s conference will focus on putting research results into practice so that they can be transformed into concrete public policies. Participants will have the opportunity to refine their understanding of the interactions between the major challenges of pro-nature transitions, the alignment of finance with a sustainable agenda, public action beyond the state, and socio-demographic dynamics in transitions.
Conference panels:
- Pro-nature transition: How to assess the risks and opportunities of pro-nature transitions?
This panel will discuss research on assessing the risks and opportunities of pro-nature transitions, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the Paris Agreement, and the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework. - Sustainable finance: issues around regulatory and voluntary alignment frameworks
This panel will address the challenges and opportunities of aligning sustainable finance, looking at debates on regulatory frameworks and voluntary initiatives. - Public action: Public services beyond the State: opportunities and risks in the countries of the South
This panel will look at the governance of public services in countries of the Global South, addressing the construction of the State, decentralization, and public-communal partnerships. - Demographic and social dynamics: How to integrate demographic and social dynamics in ecological transitions?
This panel will provide an opportunity to discuss demographic and social dynamics in the context of ecological transition for low and middle-income countries, and to look at how they can be analyzed and integrated in a sustainable way into development trajectories.
