Enhancing national public health capacities in Ethiopia

UNOPS is working with Ethiopia’s Ministry of Health to equip the Armauer Hansen Research Institute in Addis Ababa with the latest technology needed to conduct innovative disease research.

As part of a $7.3 million project, UNOPS will procure laboratory equipment and construct a wastewater treatment plant for the institute. UNOPS will work closely with partners to ensure the laboratory facility meets international standards for research and biosafety.

“UNOPS is honored to contribute to Ethiopia’s public health advancements by delivering this important laboratory facility. We are committed to ensuring that this project will not only advance research but will also provide a sustainable and resilient infrastructure that will benefit Ethiopians for generations to come,” said Worknesh Mekonnen, Director of Uthe NOPS Multi-Country Office in Ethiopia.

The project will enhance the institute’s infectious diseases research and training capacity – helping to contribute to regional and global health security.
