Five organizations have been named finalists in the MacArthur Foundation’s 100&Change competition, which will award a single $100 million grant to help solve a major global challenge. The nominees represent bold solutions in investigative journalism, education, public health, and information access, all aiming to create lasting impact for marginalized communities worldwide.
According to a press-release by MacArthur Foundation, the 2025 finalists are the Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project, Pratham USA, Sentinel, Texas Children’s Hospital, and the Wikimedia Foundation’s Abstract Wikipedia. Each project addresses a different critical issue- from cross-border investigative reporting to foundational learning for children, disease surveillance, sickle cell care integration, and breaking language barriers to reliable information.
This year, 869 applications were reviewed, with each finalist now working to refine their proposals before the winner is announced later in 2025.
Since its inception, 100&Change has leveraged nearly $900 million in additional funding for participants and has influenced the philanthropic sector to pursue more ambitious, collaborative approaches to global problem-solving.
