Do you use DevelopmentAid to market yourself? Did you know that via our platform your profile can be found by over 80,000 organisations working for global development? Make sure it accurately reflects the best of who you are, and what you do. Follow simple steps below to increase the chances of being found by the right connections:

1

Login into your account, go to the Profile menu and click on View Profile on the left. Review your profile and identify areas of improvement, by asking yourself:

What critical information is missing?
What important messages am I not communicating about my work and experience?
What do I want people to view on my profile that is not there right now?
What contact details shall I add?
Which documents do I want to make available?

Make sure all your key qualifications are listed in the profile description, you have selected all (but only) the sectors that you are working in, your CV reflects what you’re doing and that everything is up to date, and ensure all valid contact details are added. Not to mention, be sure that all content is spellchecked before publishing.

It is important to optimise your profile for keyword searches so that organisations can find you more often. Create a list of keywords that are relevant to your experience and your sectors of interest. If you are not sure which key words you will use, search our database to find profiles of other experts from your sectors of experience. Access expert-members’ profiles, view their profile description and take note of how often they use keywords, and how they have strengthened their profile around some terms.

Then go back to your profile settings, and add the keywords strategically – but not in excess. You should include keywords in your qualifications summary, and update the job description or job headings in the CV. Keywords help recruiters find your profile and easily understand your expertise.

Screenshot_6Now that your profile content is updated with the relevant information and represents you accurately, it is the best moment to create your individual URL: creating a public profile URL boosts your profile ranking in search engines.

With a custom URL, your profile will rank higher in Google so more people can find it. It’s also easy to remember a custom URL so you can hand it out to people. Note that this feature is available to DevelopmentAid members, and allows members to differentiate their accounts from regular-user accounts.

Your goal is to make your profile accessible to a bigger number of organisations, so that even more recruiters can access the high-quality information about you. With a membership account, your profile gets visibility and exposure.

By following these simple steps, you ensure your profile presents your skills and qualifications in a professional manner, and you have higher chances of securing more employment opportunities.

Screenshot_10It is great that you now have an updated profile, and organisations can find you on the DevelopmentAid platform. But what if they don’t have the time to do searches on external websites, and only use their internal database to find a candidate? (Which sometimes is the reality, especially when it is about short-term projects with limited deadlines.) In such cases, no matter how hard you worked on your profile updates, those organisations won’t see your high-quality profile.

Not to lose any project opportunities, we recommend you ensure that every organisation from your sectors of experience has your CV in their own database. You can do it manually, which requires a lot of time investment, but is still feasible. All you have to do is search for relevant organisations via our Organisations menu, and send them your CV for future projects. However, this is also a very time consuming project.

Instead, use DevelopmentAid timesaving solutions and broadcast your CV via our platform to introduce your CV in a professional manner to all the organisations that are interested in receiving expert’s CVs. The cost of the CV broadcast is 129 euros.

The cost of the CV broadcast is 129 euros, and as a bonus you will receive 30 days of DevAid Professional Plus membership.
