New EU money for Gaza, Syria and Lebanon aid

The European Commission has allocated an additional €83 million to help people in three Middle East crisis zones. Gaza and the West Bank will get €50 million, bringing EU aid there to €170 million this year. This money will help groups deliver food, medicine, and other essentials to families caught in the fighting.

Syria will receive an extra €20 million, pushing the EU’s total aid package for the country to €202.5 million in 2025. This funding targets the North-East region, where people struggle to find food and healthcare. Lebanon gets €13 million to help both Syrian refugees and local communities in areas hit by conflict.

Commissioner Hadja Lahbib pointed out a key problem: aid workers need safe access to deliver help. She noted the EU works “with neutrality” in Syria and aims to boost basic services like food and medical care in Lebanon, where an unsteady ceasefire now holds. The funding focuses on helping the most at-risk groups in all three locations.
