New IsDB projects to help communities grow

The Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) just approved more than $277 million to fund new projects in its member countries, according to a press release. The money will be used to help people get better healthcare, easier transport, and more education, all while creating jobs and supporting everyday needs.

In Mauritania, the IsDB will spend €26 million to expand the National Cardiology Center in Nouakchott. This means more people will get the heart care they need and fewer lives will be lost to heart disease. In Côte d’Ivoire, €200 million will go toward making Abidjan’s public transit better and greener, helping cut down long commutes and giving people in poorer neighborhoods a chance to get to work or school more easily.

The Gambia is also set to benefit. IsDB is investing $32.2 million there to help launch a new School of Medicine and Allied Health Sciences. This will train more doctors and nurses locally and strengthen the country’s health system for the future.

The IsDB says these projects are about making life better for people and helping countries grow in a fair and lasting way. The Bank’s new funding is focused on real needs—jobs, health, and transport—so communities can thrive now and down the road.
