The US-headquartered Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) allocated an impressive US$12 billion in financing for 95 sovereign-guaranteed projects across the Latin America and Caribbean region in 2024, reaffirming its role as the region’s leading financier. In addition, the IDB Group’s subsidiary, IDB Invest, provided another US$9.8 billion in commitments while the IDB Lab approved US$107 million for 72 social-driven projects, demonstrating the group’s strong commitment to poverty reduction, climate resilience, and sustainable growth.
Established in 1959, the IDB currently comprises 48 member countries of which 26 are borrowing member countries and 22 are non-borrowing members. The bank provides financial and technical support to national and sub-national governments and other entities in the LAC region that are conducting cutting-edge research and developing innovative solutions to address development challenges.
Given the increasing interest from the development community about the IDB’s operations, DevelopmentAid invites donor agencies, foundations, NGOs, the private sector, and individual experts to join the “Doing business with the IDB: Procurement Framework and Best Practices (2025 updates)” webinar. In this procurement webinar, Adriana Salazar, Senior Procurement Specialist at the IDB, will provide an overview of the IDB’s operations, discuss the Bank’s procurement guidelines, and share best practices for successful collaboration.
