Ten Salvador businesses get development boost

Ten small businesses in South-America’s El Salvador will get support to grow their operations under a new agreement signed between international development partners and a local university, according to a press release. The Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI), Germany’s KfW, and the European Union (EU) partnered with the Catholic University of El Salvador through the DINÁMICA II Initiative to help micro and small enterprises enhance their competitiveness.

In Salvador, small and medium businesses struggle to access the same resources that bigger companies take for granted. The new program plans to level the playing field by working directly with entrepreneurs who need technical help but can’t afford expensive consultants.

The Catholic University of El Salvador will run the program through its business development centers in the cities of Santa Ana and Ilobasco. Each of the ten selected companies gets one-on-one support with business management, technology upgrades, and marketing assistance to improve product development. The focus includes helping owners go digital, cut costs, and boost sales.

“This joint collaboration reaffirms our commitment to contribute to economic development and job creation in Central America,” according to the announcement. Companies will also learn about making their operations more environmentally friendly.

The program reflects a broader push to create jobs and strengthen Central America’s economy by focusing on small, newer businesses. Rather than waiting for large corporations to drive growth, this approach bets on local entrepreneurs who already know their communities. The partnership expects these businesses to hire more workers and serve as examples for other small companies across the region.
