Finland will showcase its digital expertise and clean energy technology at the Global Gateway Forum this week, Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland
revealed. Minister Tavio will participate in high-level discussions on digital connectivity, one of Finland’s key strengths, during the Brussels event hosted by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen. The forum focuses on building smart and sustainable connections while boosting global investments. Finland plans to promote its businesses and export Finnish expertise through the EU’s Global Gateway strategy. The minister will also attend meetings with counterparts from other participating countries.
The Global Gateway is Europe’s investment strategy to build modern and secure connections in digital, energy, and transport sectors across developing partner countries. The plan aims to mobilize up to €300 billion in investments between 2021 and 2027. The strategy also works to strengthen health, education, and research systems in partner nations. This year’s forum concentrates on creating sustainable links and increasing global investment flows. European officials want to tie trade and development cooperation closer together through these projects.
In Global Gateway projects, Finland focuses on solutions related to digitalization, education, and the clean energy transition. Minister Tavio said “by building sustainable connections and investing in expertise, we are laying the foundation for both social and economic development in partner countries.” Finnish companies have strong technical know-how that the government wants to promote within the EU. The projects involve private sector participation, creating opportunities for Finnish businesses to expand internationally. Digital connectivity represents a particular area where Finland can contribute expertise.
Minister Tavio will also attend the Global Gateway Board meeting on October 8, officials confirmed. The board includes high-level representatives from all EU member states and guides how the Global Gateway strategy gets implemented. Finland sees this as a chance to export its technology and expertise around the world. The minister noted that “the Global Gateway is an opportunity to export Finnish expertise and technology around the world.” Finnish businesses possess capabilities that can help developing countries modernize their infrastructure and systems.
