Panama is making strides in improving public health, water, and sanitation with the backing of the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI), as highlighted in the latest update from the Bank’s supervisory visit to two major projects CABEI reported. Work continues at the Gorgas Campus Phase I construction site, which will soon become the country’s main hub for scientific research and public health. With construction now 12% finished, the facility promises stronger capacity for detecting and addressing infectious diseases, and will help train a new generation of public health professionals.
Meanwhile, significant progress is underway in Arraiján and La Chorrera through the Sanitation Program, targeting improved basic services for more than 250,000 residents. The initiative is already making a difference for families, creating cleaner and healthier communities where safe water and better sanitation are becoming the norm.
CABEI’s latest visit showcased not just infrastructure, but real benefits for local people. The organization emphasized that these investments bring lasting improvement, representing opportunity and development for thousands whose daily lives are touched by new services.
“Our commitment is not just about building,” a CABEI spokesperson said. “Every milestone reflects our dedication to supporting Panama, helping communities grow, and delivering projects that matter to people’s health and future.”
CABEI remains focused on launching transformative projects in Panama, aiming to reach vulnerable communities and bolster sustainable development throughout the country.
