Optimized structure enhances data clarity, precision, and client experience across the world’s leading platform that provides development organizations with data on tenders, grants, and jobs in the international aid sector.
November 6, 2025 — DevelopmentAid announces a major enhancement to its sector classification system designed to deliver more accurate, intuitive, user-friendly, and AI-powered data classification. Effective October 25, 2025, www.developmentaid.org will operate with 53 updated sectors, replacing the former 85-category structure, active since 2013.
This improvement aligns with DevelopmentAid’s commitment to simplifying data navigation and maintaining high-quality standards in information services for the international development community. The optimized structure ensures clearer definitions, faster project alignment, and a more streamlined experience for users.
The restructured classification reflects the platform’s ongoing growth and the need to handle increasingly complex aid data efficiently. The updated sectors—developed with extensive cross-departmental collaboration—are intended to make data searching, reporting, and analysis more intuitive and accurate. Moreover, the new system allows the introduction of AI-driven classification systems.
No action is needed on behalf of our current or future platform users, as the transition to the new classification was carried out automatically for all member profiles.
“By consolidating and refining the sector framework, we aim to make data access simpler and more insightful for every client and partner using our platform,” said Sergiu Casu, Vice President of Sales at DevelopmentAid.
The new system offers four key advantages:
🔹 Clarity and Simplicity: A shorter, well-defined list removes confusion and speeds up the process of identifying relevant information.
🔹 Deeper Expertise: Merged sectors encourage broader, more integrated solutions, promoting specialized analysis where it matters most.
🔹 Faster Alignment: Precise sector boundaries enable quicker scoping and initiation of projects and tenders.
🔹 AI-Powered classification: The new sectoral structure allows for more efficient application of Artificial Intelligence for more precise, automated sector identification.
