Poland launches €350 million tech innovation fund

Poland is launching a €350 million fund to pump money into tech startups and innovation. The European Investment Fund (EIF) and Poland’s national promotion bank BGK signed an agreement creating Future Tech Poland, which will back venture capital funds that invest in innovative companies at different stages of growth, the EIF announced. The fund aims to strengthen Poland’s position as a tech hub and boost the competitiveness of the EU’s fifth-largest economy.

Future Tech Poland marks the EIF’s largest financial mandate in Poland to date. BGK will put in €235 million, while the EIF co-invests at least €115 million and manages the assets. First investments are expected in the first quarter of 2026, with plans to deploy all the money by the end of 2027. The goal is to increase capital available to startups, strengthen local venture capital funds, and push innovation forward.

“Created in partnership with BGK, this is the EIF’s largest financial mandate to date in Poland,” said Marjut Falkstedt, EIF Chief Executive. “Our extensive experience strengthening national VC ecosystems across the European Union will help harness innovation as another driving force of the Polish economy.” The fund will provide public capital for high-tech startups and innovative scale-ups while encouraging private investors to jump in.

Mirosław Czekaj, president of BGK’s management board, called investing in modern technologies central to Poland’s economic strategy.

“Future Tech Poland is our concrete response to the growing needs of Polish venture capital funds and young technology companies—we want capital to flow where the future is being created,” he said.

The fund is part of Innovate Poland, a national investment program launched under Finance and Economy Minister Andrzej Domański. The program brings together the EIF, BGK, Polish development fund PFR, and insurer PZU as co-investors. Domański said the initiative offers tangible support for breakthrough technologies and ambitious teams looking to compete internationally. “Through Innovate Poland, we are strengthening Poland’s innovation ecosystem and laying the foundations for the country’s long-term growth and economic security,” he said.
