In conjunction with World Neglected Tropical Diseases Day 2026, we are pleased to announce that registration is now open for a webinar dedicated to the impact of the conflict in Sudan on vector-borne diseases and on neglected tropical diseases, and to ways forward to address the burden of these conditions amidst a complex emergency.
The webinar will bring together leading Sudanese and global experts, researchers, and public health professionals, including:
- Dr Sara Azhari Hassan and Dr Hamoda Toto (Federal Ministry of Health, Sudan)
- Professor Ahmed Fahal (University of Khartoum Mycetoma Research Centre, WHO Collaborating Centre on Mycetoma and Skin Neglected Tropical Diseases)
- Professor Maowia M. Mukhtar (Bioscience Research Institute, Sudan)
- Dr Rasha Siddig Azrag (University of Khartoum, Sudan and State University of New York at Buffalo, United States of America)
- Professor Heather Ferguson (University of Glasgow, United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and Chair, WHO Strategic and Technical Advisory Group for Neglected Tropical Diseases (STAG-NTD))
The webinar is organized by the Ministerial Standing Committee on Scientific and Technological Cooperation (COMSTECH) of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
