EBRD and BNP Paribas Finansal Kiralama partner on business resilience in Türkiye

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) is providing a loan of up to €25 million to BNP Paribas Finansal Kiralama, a leading privately owned leasing company operating across Türkiye, to help make businesses more resilient and sustainable, according to a press release issued on 20 May 2026. The financing is the first to be signed under the Türkiye Green Economy Financing Facility (GEFF) III. At least 30 per cent of the funding is earmarked for regions affected by Türkiye’s February 2023 earthquakes. The loan will be on-lent to eligible businesses investing in green economy solutions. These include energy efficiency, renewable energy and climate-resilient projects.

BNP Paribas Finansal Kiralama is a longstanding EBRD partner with a strong track record under the Bank’s GEFF II programme. The company’s presence in the construction sector and its reach across Türkiye position it to play a key role in scaling up green investments. This is particularly relevant in areas with significant reconstruction needs. The EBRD is a leading institutional investor in Türkiye. It has committed more than €24 billion through over 525 projects in the country since 2009.

Of the total package, the EBRD is providing €23.5 million, with the remaining €1.5 million coming from the Taiwan International Cooperation and Development Fund. The financing is designed to address affordability barriers and enable long-term green investment where it is needed most. The project will also benefit from EBRD-supported technical cooperation. This support will strengthen BNP Paribas Finansal Kiralama’s institutional capacity in climate governance, green lending and risk management. In parallel, the package promotes equal access to finance for women.

Oksana Yavorskaya, the EBRD’s Deputy Head of Türkiye, said: “We are pleased to build on our partnership with BNP Paribas Finansal Kiralama through our cooperation under the Türkiye Green Economy Financing Facility. Through GEFF, we are working with local financial institutions to scale up green investments and channel finance to where it can have the greatest impact. This project will support businesses across the country in investing in greener, more resilient technologies, while ensuring targeted support for earthquake-affected regions, where investment needs remain significant.”

Her remarks underline the role of local financial institutions in advancing the program. They also highlight the targeted focus on earthquake-affected areas.

Sibel Alyar, General Manager of BNP Paribas Finansal Kiralama, described the agreement as an important step in strengthening the company’s contribution to sustainable growth in Türkiye. She noted that BNP Paribas Leasing Solutions delivers €15.5 billion in annual leasing volumes across 17 countries. The company affirmed its commitment to expanding access to green financing supporting energy efficiency, renewable energy and climate resilience. It also reiterated its commitment to supporting earthquake-affected regions in partnership with the EBRD. The transaction marks the first signed under GEFF III in Türkiye.
