The UN Secretary-General is convening the first United Nations High-level Conference of Heads of Counter-Terrorism Agencies of Member States, on 28 and 29 June 2018 at United Nations Headquarters.
The overarching theme for the Conference is “Strengthening international cooperation to combat the evolving threat of terrorism”. The conference aims to build a new partnership for multilateral cooperation to strengthen the international community’s counter-terrorism efforts.
“Our responsibility is to unite to build a world of peace and security, dignity and opportunity for all people, everywhere, so we can deprive the violent extremists of the fuel they need to spread their hateful ideologies,” said António Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations.
Conference participants include the Member States represented by Heads of Counter-Terrorism agencies, regional organisations, civil society organisations, and the United Nations Global Counter-Terrorism Coordination Compact Entities.
