Colombia will strengthen the institutional management of its Ombudsman’s Office (DPC), benefiting citizens through an expanded offer, better services and specialized attention from the entity.

The $18 million loan from the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) aims to improve the effectiveness of the institutional management of the DPC. This includes increasing efficiency and effectiveness in institutional capacity; improve the quality and efficiency of the services provided by the DPC, and strengthening accountability and citizen participation.

This program will implement new management models and tools, including technological innovations to promote improvements in services and attention to citizens. Among other activities, a visualization and georeferencing platform for the management of the CPD will be developed.

The program’s main beneficiaries will be the citizens, through a better response from public and private service providers. Likewise, vulnerable populations will benefit from expanded offerings, better services, and specialized assistance from the DPC.

On the other hand, public and private service providers will also benefit from useful and timely recommendations and observations from the DPC as a result of better processing and analysis of citizen requests. International good practices also indicate that early warnings and recommendations are the tools among the ombudsmen offices with the greatest impact of these entities.

This $18 million IDB loan is for a 25-year term with a grace period of 5.5 years and an interest rate based on LIBOR.
