JICA is supporting forest preservation effort in India for the past 25 years. Uttarakhand, the north district in India, is one of the most ecologically rich states but also a disaster-prone area by flooding and landslides.
JICA and Uttarakhand Government agreed to conduct a technical cooperation project aims to enhance the system for slope disaster management in the forest areas including capacity building such as future preparedness to fight all kinds of natural disasters and knowledge dissemination to other Himalayan states.
