The EBRD will finance the electrification of the Ukrainian railways to ports

The Verkhovna Rada ratified the agreement between “Ukrzaliznytsya” and the European investment Bank. The document provides for the provision of 150 million euros for the modernization of Ukrainian Railways.

The adoption of the draft law No. 0186 a basis and as a whole voted 234 deputies. The agreement provides for the loan of 150 million euros in particular for the electrification and modernization of railway sections leading to the sea ports of Nikolaev, Odessa and Olbia. Also funding will expand the capacity of the railway direction Dolynska — Mykolaiv — Kolosivka, runs through the territory of the Kirovograd, Nikolaev and Odessa areas, will help to solve problems with the clearance of cargo in the direction of the Nikolaev ports. Also, the reconstruction of roads will allow to increase the service speed of freight trains by 20-25%, which will reduce the time of cargo delivery.

Earlier, the European investment Bank has allocated 5 million euros to improve safety on Ukrainian roads and 20 million euros for the renovation of the buildings of Ukrainian institutions of higher education.
