Peru: protecting the Amazon

The indigenous peoples of Loreto, Peru, understand the value of the Amazon and the resources it provides. For more than 10 years, they have become environmental monitors to track and report the impact of oil activity in the region.

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is working together with the Peruvian government and indigenous environmental monitors to identify strategies to remedy the territories impacted.
