The Board of Executive Directors of the Islamic Development Bank, which concluded its 328th meeting at IsDB headquarters in Jeddah, on Sunday 14 December 2018, under the chairmanship of HE Dr. Bandar Hajjar, IsDB President, has approved US$ 281.55 million for new development projects in member countries.
The Board approved in the session the Integrated Work Program (IWP) 2019-2021, and the Budget for 2019. This included the IsDB New Development Model to meet MCs 2030 development agenda representing a comprehensive response to the BoG members’ expectations as expressed during the roundtable of 2018 Annual Meeting (AM) in Tunis. The IWP also included the Strategic Priorities and associated results framework for 2019-2021 which provides a framework that operationalizes the IsDB new development model as well as quantitative indicators that measure progress towards achieving MCs expectations.
The New development finances approved by the Bank are as follows:
- US$ 134.5 million for Natural Gas Transmission Project – Tunisia.
- US$ 19.2 million for the Construction of Rural Roads Using Soil Technology Project – Senegal.
- US$ 26 million for Health System Strengthening with Emphasis on Maternal Newborn and Child Health – Djibouti.
- US$ 15 million for Improving Maternal, Neonatal, and Child Health in the Four Districts of the Khatlon Region – Tajikistan.
- US$ 15.5 million for Regional Rice Value Chain Development Project – Guinea.
- US$ 30 million for Regional Rice Value Chain Development Project – Senegal.
- US$ 15.65 million for Regional Rice Value Chain Development Project – Niger.
- US$ 20.3 million for Regional Rice Value Chain Program – Sierra Leone.
- US$ 3 million for IsDB Contribution to the Somalia Infrastructure Fund managed by African Development Bank (Re-submission).

- US$200,000 for the Establishing Al Salam Islamic School by Mount Pleasant Islamic Center in Brampton, Ontario – Canada.
- US$200,000 for the Construction of Avicenne Secondary School in Nice – France.
- US$250,000 for the Expansion of Spring Buds Educational Trust Secondary School, Ompora, Budgam District, Jammu & Kashmir – India.
- US$200,000 for the Expansion of Hajj Mussa Islamic Primary School in Lilongwe – Malawi.
- US$350,000 for the Adam Abdullah Hospital in Mogadishu – Somalia.
- US$200,000 for the Construction of Accommodation Buildings for Students and Teachers in Santiwit Foundation School, Chana District, Songkhla Province – Thailand.
- US$200,000 for the Construction of PEAS Kabuta Secondary School, Mungwi, Northern Province – Zambia.
- US$200,000 for the Expansion of Al Shifa Primary Healthcare Center, Hatcliffe Extension, Harare – Zimbabwe.
- US$200,000 for the Austin Peace Academy Expansion Project, Austin, Texas – USA.
- US$200,000 for the Establishing Usman Shakir Mount Joy Islamic School by Islamic Society of Markham in Markham, Ontario – Canada.
- US$200,000 for the Expansion of Al-Hikma Boys Secondary School in Mikwambe, Kigamboni District – Tanzania.
