The Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa (BADEA) and the Republic of Rwanda have signed a loan agreement worth US $ 20 million to help finance Rural Electrification Project in Nyamagabe and Nyaruguru Districts. The signature took place on the sidelines of the Board of Directors meeting in Kigali.
This project covers supply and construction of distribution networks and meters and service cables to connect houses, commercial and public centers in Nyaruguru and Nyamagabe Districts.
The total number of people benefiting from the project is estimated at about 156,000. Therefore, the access rate to electricity in the project areas is expected to increase from 33% currently to about 52%.
With his new loan, the total commitments of BADEA to the Republic of RWANDA will amount to around US $ 190 million.
